To position our production for long-term future readiness, Kläger SPC has invested in a new fully electric injection molding machine from KraussMaffei and, at the same time, implemented further automation steps in housing production. The goal of these modernizations is to make existing processes more efficient, save energy, and continuously improve quality, productivity, and working conditions.
Modern Injection Molding for Growing Demands
The product manufactured on the new machine has been produced at Kläger SPC for many years. Until now, production took place on two hydraulic injection molding machines, each equipped with a 2-cavity mold. By switching to a 4-cavity mold, production can be made significantly more powerful and energy-efficient — however, this required a larger and more powerful machine.
The new fully electric system makes it possible to produce nearly double the number of components in the same amount of time. At the same time, the modern technology ensures consistently high quality, shorter cycle times, and overall more efficient production workflows.

Automation and Efficiency
Another important step is the increasing automation of production. On the new injection molding machine, the parts produced will in future be removed automatically by a robot and placed directly into trays.
A new automation solution has also now been implemented on two other injection molding systems: robots remove the produced components with precise positioning and place them directly into trays. Employees then take the trays from the conveyor belt, carry out quality control, and prepare the parts on pallets.
This change largely eliminates the need for manual inspection of each individual component. For the housings, which are now packed directly into trays, automated inspection stations handle quality control. These inspection stations have already been in use for some time and have proven themselves in practice. As a result, manual inspection could be reduced to a minimum. This is an important prerequisite for automated packaging. Instead of handling individual parts, entire trays are now handled, which noticeably eases day-to-day work while also enabling more efficient and safer processes.

Sustainability that is being supported
In addition to increased efficiency, the new machine also brings energy-related benefits. Whereas two hydraulic systems were previously in use, production now takes place on a fully electric machine that operates significantly more energy-efficiently. For this energy-related improvement, Kläger SPC is receiving funding from the SAB.

With the new injection molding machine and the expanded automation solutions, Kläger SPC is investing specifically in modern technology, sustainable production processes, and better working conditions. These measures are an important step toward further developing production to be powerful, efficient, and future-oriented over the long term.
